Usage

A PPPx run is driven by a configuration file (pppx.ini) that selects the solution mode and solver and points at your products and table files. The RINEX observation file(s) are passed on the command line.

  1. Prepare input files — GNSS observations in RINEX format, plus satellite products (broadcast or precise) and the table files.
  2. Edit pppx.ini — adjust the configuration for your scenario (see Configuration).
  3. Run pppx — point it at your config and observation file(s).
  4. Check the output — inspect the .pos, .log, and .stat files and visualize the result.

PPPx prints a fully-populated default configuration for a given solution mode to standard output, so you can redirect it to a file and edit from there:

Terminal window
pppx -x spp > spp.ini
pppx -x ppp > ppp.ini
pppx -x rtk > rtk.ini
pppx -x tdp > tdp.ini

See Configuration for what every section and key means.

The configuration file is passed with -c, and the RINEX observation file(s) follow it:

pppx -c pppx.ini path-to-rnxobs [rnxobs-of-base]

For RTK, the base-station RINEX is the second observation argument.

Terminal window
# SPP / PPP / TDP (TDP is intended for high-rate data, e.g. 1 Hz)
pppx -c pppx.ini rinex/ZIM200CHE_R_20221000000_01D_30S_MO.rnx
# RTK — ZIMM is the base station
pppx -c pppx.ini rinex/ZIM200CHE_R_20221000000_01D_30S_MO.rnx rinex/ZIMM00CHE_R_20221000000_01D_30S_MO.rnx

The solution mode (spp / ppp / rtk / tdp) and estimator (lsq / ekf / fgo) are set in the [estimation] section of pppx.ini — see Configuration.

For convenience, the pppx.sh wrapper script automatically downloads the required products (SP3, CLK, OBX, BIA, ERP, broadcast ephemeris, and GIM) from the CODE archive, then runs pppx:

Terminal window
pppx -x ppp > pppx.ini # generate a default config
# Edit pppx.ini if needed, but leave the [product] block (except "src") and the
# [table] block blank — the wrapper fills them in.
pppx.sh -c pppx.ini rinex/ZIM200CHE_R_20221000000_01D_30S_MO.rnx

A PPPx run takes four kinds of input:

  • GNSS observations in the RINEX format — specified as command-line arguments.
  • The configuration file pppx.ini — specified with -c, and described in Configuration.
  • Satellite products, either broadcast or precise — specified in pppx.ini and described in Products.
  • Table files, already provided in the table/ directory of the repository — specified in pppx.ini and described in Tables.

A run produces three files — a .pos solution, a .log, and an RTKLIB-style .stat. See Output for the formats and Visualization for plotting them.
